So is the secret the boyfriend himself, or is the secret that he loves him, and will not tell the fox THAT secret??

I think the best part is that the fox is helping him play better... and it's nice that he's fallen for him. ^^

What's to be said that hasn't been said a million times already, Kyell? XD
You must be getting tired of writing such wonderful work all the time by now.

Thanks! Glad it improves on further review. :) I know the structure is a little odd. In the novel, this part is included with some formatting to hopefully make it easier to follow.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure your book is a must read now if its anything like this or this continued. Honestly, I'm not all that caught up just yet, I only just found out about this little treasure tonight and it's five in the morning. No worries, I'm an insomniac, it helps to pass the time.
*insert some type of groan/moan/ugh-ish expression.* Honestly, I don't think there's a sound for what I'm feeling right now. Lee is something else. He reminds me of, well, this is going to sound a bit self centered, but, he reminds me of me. I dated the running back of our Catholic High School's football teem. It was a short relationship and I still barely know anything about football. :/ I acted the exact same way though, as far as the teasing and foreplay is concerned. The trick is to make him think you really don't care at all, then, show a little interest, and you have him by the balls. But, I think you know exactly what I'm talking about since this story does exactly that. We never really had any troubles with the rest of the guy's though. I was friends with most of em' and yes, they are quite thick in the brain most of the time so no one found out but I didn't exactly pull anything quite as risky as kissing in public. Gods, reminiscing about those times are another reason why I absolutely love this story. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Wow, I'm always impressed when someone's lived a situation I've just imagined. Very happy to hear you enjoyed the story--sorry about the lost sleep. ;)
And yeah, this is fiction, so I have to jazz it up a bit with public kisses and stuff. Plus, Lee just gets off on that.

I can't thank you enough for writing such great characters and creating so much emotion out of simple words. Love it love it love it. Love this story like I love lamp.

Well that settles it. I'll be ordering your book as soon as I get my paws on some money.
I really enjoy your writting style. Very descriptive but just a tad bit confusing. That last part might just be my lack of sleep at the moment, however. Anyway, you managed to paint the characters into my mind, along with the scenery and emotion. It's great and I can't wait to read the rest.
Makes me want to go work on my own stories XD
Keep up the good work sir!

Thanks so much! (and to the previous posters as well :) I know this part is a little confusing, but in the book the "past" scenes are italicized, and after this it doesn't jump around as much. So glad people like it despite the weird time-playing, and I hope you do enjoy the book if you decide to pick it up. :)

I enjoyed it, for the most part. A lot of times, the 'secret love' cliche gets rehashed in different scenarios, but you gave a decent spin to it and drew me into the story. The characters/dialogue were horribly realistic and believable.
My one gripe is this; the point of view in which you wrote didn't work with the pacing at all. There were several situations in which you could have expanded upon and made a lot more interesting to read - the football game sequence, for example - but you rushed through in order to maintain the legitimacy of the concise, present tense point of view. I understand if you're cutting it short to keep the novel short enough, but at the same, even the smallest additions could have helped.
Great great work.

I don't see how anyone can give this less than a 5/5. The characters are dynamic and creative; never ceasing to keep me amazed. Lee is able to balance out Dev is more ways the one, making the "dumb jock" a complex and unique fur. I fully plan to buy the novel and I voted for this story and some of your other works in the Ursa Awards.

Look, I know your not going to end up reading this. But I plan on writing more in my life that just on this site. I'm starting here to get help on common mistakes. I have 2 stories (in a series) that are unedited, not proof read, and not formatted for YS quite correctly. But If you DO read this. Please please please give me some feedback on whether I suck or not. I consider you a sort of 2nd hand mentor.

I really appreciate the request, but I unfortunately can't read your story. It's not personal; please take a look at http://www.kyellgold.com/contact/ for the reasons, and they apply to everyone. Or look at the post on my livejournal from yesterday: http://kyellgold.livejournal.com/138904.html
But an extra piece of advice: if you're going to ask someone to read your writing, edit it. Proofread it. Format it. If you're going to ask someone's opinion about your work, make it the best it can be. If you were asking someone how good your scrambled eggs are, would you just crack eggs into a pan, add ham and cheese and onions and spices, and say, "Well, it's not actually cooked, but tell me if this is good."? Editing and proofreading are part of writing.

I had the enjoyment of reading the parts of the story about a year ago and I use took the time to reread them...
I happen to be lesbian and found them to be fun to read again! A good story will have something to attract most readers and this one is a great story... I need to get a copy of the book so I can read it.

Dude, that... was just beautiful!
I mean, wow. The change Dev went through was phenomenal! I mean... first I I was like "Meh... misogynist who objectifies women jock," but now we're all genuinely rooting for this guy from deep down! All because of Lee... and I gotta say, it takes serious guts to pose as a woman in public without raising any suspicions (not that I'd know. XD) and I salute him!
Oh, and I think a lot of us can totally relate to the play scene... It's pretty much how I felt when I first saw a play that a good friend of mine was in. It's amazing how cultured one can become from watching a few plays...
Even though I'm sure not everyone who liked this story was gay or bisexual, (me included) I think we can all agree that you really captured the feeling of finding "the one" for you, (whether male or female) and knowing it, deep down.
Gah, I could go on and on, but I'll just stop here. Expect some cha-ching coming your way from me in the near future. I've got my eye on this book!

I'm new here, but I was looking over Blotch's Artwork on DeviantART, and it had the cutest Tiger holding a Fox up on a Football Field, so I clicked it, and (whatever gender Blotch is) said this was for a Novel, so I looked for it, and read over both parts, I loved every bit of it, if I wasn't living with my Homophobe Family, I would Purchase your Novel's, Blotch's and Rukis' Artwork, but my Family has no idea I am a Gay Furry, imagine a package on my doorstep, then when I open it everyone is ogling my books.

Well, fortunately, it's available in electronic form now! You can get a Kindle edition (there are Kindle readers for PC and Mac) at http://www.amazon.com/Out-of-Position-ebook/dp/B003PPDAXQ/ -- it has the full text, though sadly, no art. But Blotch posted several of the interiors on FA, so you can see them there.

I would sign up, but apparently assholes on Fur Affinity just signed up to trash talk furries, at least that's what I've heard, and that's why registration is down. When I can find a land based job, and my own place, expect some cash from me. Also , I hope I am not being straight forward, but your Avatar is cute.

I'm wondering how this fits in with the rest of the book. Is it a prequel?
I'm certainly going to buy the book.
Many thanks

"In Between" is part one of the novel and "Secrets" is part two. Then there's another 270 pages to read. ^^
