Ok. This time of year, my area does street cleaning every Monday and Tuesday. They clean half of the street on Monday and hte other half on Tuesday. If you are parked on the side of the street that they are cleaning on, you get a ticket. Iwas a bit tipsy on Sunday night, so I asked my room mate to move my car to the other side of the street so that I would not get a ticket. He did this for me, and everything was cool, or so I thought.
Yesterday, him and I went out to go get some beer. I was going to take the opportunity to move my car because I had not driven that day. I had no where that I needed to go. There was a problem, though. My car was gone. I assumed that it was stolen and texted my mom to get my plates and VIM. I called the police and gave them that. They had another police station call me back. That police station sent someone else out. This is where it gets worse.
I go down and talk to the policeman. He says that my car was not stolen. He says that it was towed. He says it was parked in front of a drive way, which confused both my room mate and I because the drive ways are out back. They are not out front, where my car was parked. We went and checked. It turns out that there is one drive way out front on my entire street. Literally, t here is only one. My room mate managed to park the car in front of it. I was upset, but not at him. It was an honest mistake. He said he would pay to get my car back, though, because he is the one that parked it there.
The policeman was not done, though. He said there was something else. He told me that there was a warrant out for my arrest. This was the first that I have ever heard of it. I swear I had no idea. It turns out that I owe two fines for a grand total of about 230 dollars. He said he was not going to arrest me, thank God. He informed me that I needed to visit the judge and talk to her the very next day (Today) or I would wind up going to jail. I am inbetween jobs right now. I have a job pending that I should be starting soon, but it shouldn't start for at least a week. I have no money, so I call my parents to see if they can keep me out of jail. My dad says they can, but they cannot get me money right then and there.
My room mate came back here on his lunch break to talk to the towing company. It turns out that they are just down the street from us, and that is where they were keeping my car. He has it all ready when I get there, and all I really had to do was sign a slip to get it back. That was fairly painless. It took me multiple stabs to get it out of their small packed lot, though. Navigating it without hitting anything was a pain in the ass. IT was too small to turn around, and there were cars fairly close both in front of and behind me, so it took several tries to back it out. Whatever. I was on my way to the judges office.
Once I got to the judges office, she barely talked to me. She asked if I had money on me. How do you expect me to gatgher up 230 dollars in about 12 hours time? OF course I do not have the money. I say that I can get some money soon, but it would be on a card. She asks when. I say that I could get it by tomorrow, and she decides to stick every single dime of both bills on me for tomorrow. I have to pay the full amount tomorrow or I go to jail. I do not get a payment plan. The only other time I dealt with her, I got a payment plan thing on a speeding ticket that I got about 2 years ago. Why couldn't I get one now? I felt guilty about it when I was telling my parents that I need all of the money today so that I can pay it tomorrow.
If that was not enough, there were policemen there. They followed me home. Two cops in two different cars followed me all the way home. I did not break the law one single time on my way home, and they followed me anyway. They never turned on their lights but, after I parked, they blocked me in. I got out of my car, and they bitched at me fort driving my car to the Judges office. How the hell else am I supposed to get there? I cannot get there if I cannot drive there? They told me that I need to drive to the DMV to get a lisense in this state and, until I do, I cannot drive. I wanted to point out how incredibly stupid that was, but I didn't
So yeah. The last two days sucked
