Family Affairs - Chapter 5, Finale Part 1
The fresh cookies were steaming on the coffee table, the blinds were shut, and Alex and I were settled in, ready to watch some t.v. together. After our scuffle earlier, it was nice to have her in my arms. I held her close, under our blue and purple blanket. Her head was resting on my shoulder, and I was gently stroking her hair. Looking down, I saw her smile. It was soft, distant, and warm. It made me realize that no matter how bad things could get, we'd always have each other. And truth be told, I could want nothing more.
I was flipping through the channels calmly, looking for something I knew Alex would like, but on the inside, I was very worried. Everything seemed fine for now, but then again, mom was the only one home. Once dad got home...we were in for very hard times... But, for now, I was happy. I tightened my grip on Alex, though; with such an uncertain future, I wanted her as close to me as possible. I was pretty much oblivious to the t.v., just flipping through my thoughts faster than the channels.
"Jave," Alex whispered, "what's wrong?"
I sighed, and muted the t.v.. "Nothing," I smiled. The last thing I wanted was for her to worry. "Cookie?" I asked playfully.
She giggled. "That'd be nice."
I gave a small chuckle, and kissed her tenderly on the cheek, before leaning to the coffee table and grabbing a still warm cookie. Bringing it up to her mouth, I said, with a royal tone, "For you, m'lady."
"You're a weirdo," she laughed, leaning in to bite the cookie.
I couldn't help but smile. Leaning my head on hers, I told her, "Alex, you know, whatever happens, I love you."
She quickly swallowed, and said, "I know Jave. I love you too. But I'm sure mom and dad will understand in time. I mean...we're their kids. They're supposed to love and understand us. It would be flat out wrong if they didn't."
It was true that I did not want her to worry...but I had a feeling that if she had such high hopes in the end...she would only be that much more crushed. "Alex...This isn't a fairytale. This isn't a book, it's not a movie. I hate to say it...but it's a tragedy. This morning, mom walked into the kitchen and called me a freak. They don't understand, they don't want to. But I still love you," I said, crushed by my own monologue.
Alex looked away, flustered and frustrated. "I...I don't understand. They loved us before. Don't they now? We're no different...just in love."
"Well...I guess love is all it takes to brew hate," I muttered.
She was still looking away when she asked me, "What do you think they'll do? Do you think they'll get a counselor? Do you think they'll...separate us? They wouldn't, would they?"
"I don't know," I confessed, "But I do know one thing." She turned and faced me. "I just so happen to know that the worlds most gorgeous vixen is in my arms right now." I leaned in and kissed my sister deeply, with a fierce passion. My tongue danced around hers like never before, flaring as though this was our last embrace. I had her tight in my arms as my lips pressed against hers. This was the best feeling in the world.
As I pulled away, a bridge of saliva stretched the span between us. I stared into her eyes, admiring the glaze over the vibrant green. I smiled to her and pulled her close, hugging her tight.
After almost a minute, she whispered in my ear, "Thank you." Our embrace broke, and gave her a puzzled look. "Thank you," she continued, "For everything. You know, I never had sex before. I rarely even touched myself. But just so you know, every time you touched me, and especially when you were inside me... well, it felt right."
I actually blushed. "And thank you Alex. Thank you for everything. You've brought me so much love, so much joy...You want to know something? The past few days have been the best in my life. And it's all thanks to you."
She snuggled into me. "I feel the same... And, um, about our fight... when I shoved you away last night... well, I'm sorry."
"You already apologized. Besides, I had it coming," I looked down.
"No, WE had it coming. But now, I have the feeling that if we're gonna make it through this, we have to stick together. So, I'm sorry."
"I am too," I told her, leaning on her. "Hey, I think I owe Sean a thanks too."
Alex looked up at me as if I had summoned a demon. But then I finished with: "For freeing you up to me." Then...She smiled softly. Plus one!
She giggled at my look of achievement, and snuggled into me again. I had never been more comfortable in my entire life. Happy, I leaned back, and almost dozed off too, but then, I heard a disturbing sound.
I jumped up at the sound of the phone ringing. Alex let go, but gave me an odd look as I rushed to the end table. But the caller I.D. read James Toron, my father....
I slowly backed away from the phone. "Jave, what's wrong?" Alex asked. "Who's calling?"
It was hard, but I was able to push out, "...dad."
Immediately, Alex stood, and with a serious look, walked over to the phone. She got there just in time to hear our stern dad on the answering machine.
"Alex, Jave, I know you two are there. You are both in serious trouble. I'm on my way home now, and I'll be there with your mother at about six. When we get home, you had both better be in your own rooms." That was all he said before the machine clicked off.
I turned to Alex, who was on the verge of tears. "Hey," I told her firmly, "It's going to be all right."
I had honestly expected her to cry. But instead, she did something that hit me in an unexplainable way. She smiled, and said, "I know. Because we have each other."
That was it. That was all I could take. I burst into tears. I fell to my knees, and buried my muzzle in my paws. "I know...I know..." I whispered. She knelt beside me, and hugged me tight. "Truth is," I mumbled, "I'm scared."
"Me too," she whispered. "You're right, Jave. This isn't a fairytale. It's not a movie, or a book. It is a tragedy...but for me, would you be my Romeo?" She kissed me on the cheek. "You remember when we had to go to dinner with mom, and you said that everything would be fine?"
I nodded to her, and she said, "Well, in my eyes, you were right."
I smiled. That was... nice. I hugged her as hard as I could. My mind was racing, and my eyes were clenched tight. But, I could still feel her paw as she put it on my heart.
"You always say that it's going to be alright. Well, maybe you need someone to say it to you. So...everything's gonna be alright. You'll see," she whispered as we hugged on the floor.
My tears gave way to a small chuckle. "I hope you're right," I said, sniffling. Standing, and wiping my eyes with my arm, I asked her, "Would you maybe want to come lay down with me?"
"I'd love to," she answered, smiling. I took her extended paw, and, leaving our mess on the table, we went upstairs. It was the shortest trip i had ever mad, and we got to my bedroom sooner than I'd preferred. Even still, paw in paw, we shut the door behind us, and went to my bed.
Alex sat on the edge, and I sat next to her. Without any words, she laid her head on my shoulder, and I put my arm around her waist. Our tails curled around each other's, and we sat there, speechless, motionless.
We sat like that for at least an hour, just holding each other. but then...I heard her sniffle. I looked down, and saw her tearing up. My mouth opened to speak, but then I thought better of it. No, I have a better Idea...
Gripping her tighter, I made her lay back with me. She came without struggle, and laid in my arms, exactly where I wanted her. She sniffled again, but other than that, It was silent. And in that silence, I took my paw, and pressed it to the most sensitive part of any vixen: her heart. And she did the same to me. Together, our paws on each other's heart, we laid there for hours.
