Going home

Going home, going home,
returning to what's left behind.
Going home called glorious victor,
returning as a broken man.
Going home, going home,
returning home at last.

Damn, that has GOT to hurt. You really captured that Lost the battle but Won the war feeling. Well done. It's a fav. for sure.

I'm sure it does.
Thank you. :)

Man it is surprised he is not dead from all those arrows lodged in his back, but I do say by his expression he is a broken man indeed weary and wounded, very nice work and nice poem also. :)
Pan Hesekiel Shiroi 2 years ago 0
Thank you very much. :) Well, he already is half dead ... and if he survives is up to the viewer, I guess.
Aquilla Whitegate 2 years ago 0
Yeah I guess it is, but still a beautiful all the same no matter the outcome.

This is really moving.
I think everyone returning from Afghanistan or Iraq could really feel this pic, too.

Thank you.
And maybe ... though those people still have a home to return to ... for the warrior of this piece ... who knows?

Pan Hesekiel Shiroi 2 years ago 0
It is? Thanks a lot! :)

Yes!! I like art that tells a story and this one definetly tells he is "going home" after some type of war or battle :)
Pan Hesekiel Shiroi 2 years ago 0
Art that tells a story can be so much stronger than words. So, yeah. :)
kibasthorn 2 years ago 0
Well I don't know if broken is the right word for him, but maybe I;m just in the mood to persevere? Anyways, amazing work!! Reminds me of the style from a bedtime storybook <3
Pan Hesekiel Shiroi 2 years ago 0
Well, war can change people completely, but that's just my opinion. :)
And thank you very much! But I guess the stories in that book aren't as heavy as this piece ... :')
kibasthorn 2 years ago 0
Well, emotionally, I guess the storybooks arent on the same level, unless thats the way you connected with the story. I really connected with the poem and artwork as one, so that brought it to a new level, hence my fave of the piece :)
Pan Hesekiel Shiroi 2 years ago 0
I see, thank you for explaining it to me. :) I am really glad you connected the poem and the artwork as one, it's much appreciated.

For some reason, reminds me of the part in LotR where Boromir gets shot by Lurtz... or well, if he'd have stayed alive. Fantastic work!
Pan Hesekiel Shiroi 2 years ago 0
Hm ... now that you mention it ... indeed! :) (And now I feel like watching LotR at work ...) Thank you!
