My hard drive failed. I was unable to back up my files. In order to fix my computer I had to wipe the hard drive, and boot from the discs and then re download all my drivers.... I can't get any thing back.
Ahh. So you didn't use system restore? If you had a failure like that hit F5 to get to safemode and try fixing things from there. Doing a CMD command and run chksdk /f to check and fix problems. You shouldn't use compression as any quirks multiply problems through compression.
OK remember to back up everything next time and frequently. Stick a rewritable in the DVD drive and leave it there backing up frequently (read daily).
If your hard drive failed and corrupted the data it'll probably do so again. Spend 50 bucks for a new one and cables then change it otherwise suffer the consequences once more of an intermittent fault.
I tried to do a system restore. And I tried to back up my files. It didnt work. I turned my computer on, and it went straight to system restore. When I told my computer to back up the files it did. Then it told me that it was unable to install the microsoft hardware.... There was nothing I could have done to fix it it.
Previously I had an SD card I was backing things up to. But it got stepped on and broke.
