Gym class. It's gym class...
"Second group, round up!" And I felt like yawning... "Now, now, now!"
There's Mr. Gomez, our bull coach, already yelling out his lungs, trying to animate some and intimidate others. I don't get why all coaches have to be so loud.
"Mister Burton, move!" It doesn't work with everyone. It doesn't with me. "If you don't come this instant I'm throwing you out!"
And it seemed that I wasn't the only case.
"I'm coming..." Then I felt like smiling... "Geesh." Even more now.
Its test day and our bull-y coach had us running the five minutes mile. I aimlessly moved to the starting zone, trying to wake myself up and shaking my tail... and trying harder not at glance to the dog to my right...
And I wasn't sure I'd manage.
"One line, one person. Behind the mark, I don't want cheaters."
What I was sure of, was that if I failed the test I'd probably deserve it.
"I said NO cheaters!"
Probably shouldn't have stayed up so late with Al.
"In your marks."
Probably shouldn't have waited for him to get out of the shower.
Probably shouldn't have accepted his offer to sleep in the same bed.
Probably shouldn't have pawed off when he woke me up with his unconscious humping.
I was probably gonna fail the test today.
There's no apologizes that work with a man like Coach Gomez, for someone like him everyone must be either perfect or not even dare placing a paw in his gym... his, I snickered attracting the raving bull's attention.
Luckily I wasn't in the 'line of losers'.
The bovine just glared at me, his dull beady black eyes that seemed to look right through you just stayed on me... I hadn't done exactly well, not as he expected from me but still he was satisfied. And again I must thank Alphonse for that... but I guess having me drink three red bulls wasn't the best idea.
I felt dizzy.
"What the hell is you're problem, kids these days, spoiled little brats..." Blah. blah, blah...!
There must be a policy that impedes teachers of any kind to treat his students like that. Specially given that sometimes and some things are just physically impossible for most...
Like staying awake after two hours of sleep. Just an example.
"We did what he could."
And just like there are things mentally impossible to put up to, like harassing, and of that Keith Burton knew one bit.
"What did you say?"
I wasn't sure if I wanted to go down and back up the German shepherd. He stayed his ground glaring back at the imposing bull without flicking; even his pointy and normally perky ears remained still and attend to whatever coach spurted back.
"I asked a question."
"We did what we could. None of us could do any better and..."
Here it comes.
"What you 'could do' isn't enough! You are here to improve and I won't take a 'No, I can't. I'm too nerdy to run' for an answer."
There was more yelling at the tan and black dog, yet he stayed unthawed. He stood there with his broad shoulders and ample chest showing respectable muscle, his tall frame proud an unmoving, his handsome face stern even when facing someone everyone else feared...
He's not an exact Adonis, he's not much taller than Alphonse either... he's just your average Joe, but he had what most of his peers or us jocks don't.
"We did what we could."
Strength of will, or maybe just stubbornness, but at least it is always well meaning.
"We'll discuss your behavior after class." Coach declared with a sneering tone. "Third group take your positions!"
Keith walked away from the "loser's line" along with his corgi friend, the slightly chubby girl took his muscled arm and made him look at her. They smiled to each other. I know this will sound awful but I hope she's not his girlfriend.
"You know..." A voice called to my right, startling me one bit. "If you keep staring you might as well bore holes into his pelt."
"Shut it Al."
I said glancing to either side, luckily there wasn't anyone actually hearing him. Sometimes I swear he wants to out me. But the dobbie just smiled, I knew that look on his face, what he wanted to say... and quoting this one other dog: Geesh...
I rolled my eyes.
"Al, please... would you just keep what you have to say for later?"
Alphonse smirked, 'There we go again.' Chuckling, the doggie pushed me out of the group. I felt his paws guiding me towards a dark corridor... and I grew nervous. This was not the first time I was pushed somewhere desolated by a black dog, the scent was different, the air was clean, the dog chummed happily behind me... and I felt at ease... mostly.
"Dwight you gotta make a move before this year ends." Alphonse said still with his paws on my back, more as guidance than anything else. "There might be another gay kid around and..."
"Alphonse, sprouting wood in the men's room doesn't make you gay." Seriously, and... quoting again: Geesh... "And what's with you and playing Cupid... this is unlike you."
Thinking again, 'unlike him' it wasn't anymore, ever since I told him about the shepherd and how I couldn't help but smell his arousal... or what I thought was his arousal, he's been trying to hook me up. Geesh again.
"Oh come on, you know that you need a woman in your life..." But this was straight Alphonse being straight Alphonse, always cheery about how sex could solve this world's problems. "Or... man, rather." Somewhat considerate Alphonse. "Anyway you just need to get laid."
I laughed heartily.
"First I'd have to know if he is gay Al." I said once he stopped pushing me, we were at the gym's entrance now. "Then if he'd be interested in me and..."
"Pfft, interested? He'd have to be blind and stupid not to want you." Here it comes. "If I were..."
"Cut it out. I know that..." I was tired of that phrases, as well intentioned as they were they still stung. "Ok, I'll give it a try but..."
"But he's always with that chubby corgi." Alphonse jumped in.
I was about to say I didn't know if he was, and that I'd take my time and that I'd probably just pussy out when the time comes and... But my hesitations had no place in Alphonse's presence; he quickly put his arm over my shoulders and shook me as strong as he could before speaking.
"Don't worry I'll be you're escort for the day, I'll take the ugly girl tonight, you the... erm... hot guy?"
"Yeah... hot guy" I snickered... but I guess it was more a giggle. Maybe a relationship was what I needed to forget...
But I didn't really want to forget.
Maybe just part of the past but not all.
"We'll do it tomorrow then." Alphonse said leaving me to shudder at the thoughts of my past. He walked again to the coursing trail, he was in the fourth group and he better start warming up. "That corgi have classes till two on Thursdays so, this... this..."
Alphonse's paws circled in the air, trying to retrieve information his brain didn't have.
"Keith... his name's Keith."
Al smirked. I guess I opened my mouth a bit sooner, Keith was always just...
"Oh, unnamed shepherd now has a name, eh?"
I smiled; it was just a matter of time. I bet he did know the name but was waiting for me to find out.
"Tomorrow it is then."
I just smiled again.
"Yeah... tomorrow." But there was something I wanted to ask too. "Can I burrow you laptop today. I want to end this little project I have."
"One day you'll have to tell me what it is about." Or maybe never... "And about your boy, he waits for the corgi at the parking lot, easy prey man!"
And maybe one day Alphonse would stop thinking about hooking up and sex...
"It would take just one word and you'll have him drooling over your cock!"
Or maybe never...
Author's note: Yeah, setting up the story... I guess I suck when it comes to have a continuity in the story telling. I just hope it doesn't bother anyone. I'm open to criticism so please if you want to coment let me know what I can improve.
